Software Engineering Intern at Posit, PBC

Samuel Bharti is a computational biologist and PhD candidate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research focuses on rare disease and cancer multi-omics, with a current emphasis on Neurofibromatosis Type 1 and its associated cancers. He also builds open-source software to support biological research and make complex data easier to analyze, organize, and interpret.

He spent the summer of 2026 on the Shiny team, where he built 10 open-source applications and 5 computational biology packages. biobouncer validates biological identifiers, biohttp and bioclients connect to biological databases, plotomics supports visualization across R, Python, and JavaScript, and biocohort helps organize study data. Many of these tools grew out of problems he encountered in his own research.
